In this video, we present an advanced solution for the automated assembly of ball bearings in production. The setup of the gantry system and the integration of the Epson Scara are shown, as well as the operation of the rotary conveyor and the Variobotic shaker cameras for precise detection and positioning of the ball bearing components. The Schunk and Schmalz grippers are demonstrated in action, handling the ball bearings safely and efficiently. The step feeder supports the process with its precise conveying technique, ensuring that the entire system operates smoothly and efficiently thanks to reliable power and data transmission. In this customer's application, plastic parts had to be reliably sorted into a fixture. Due to the tight tolerances, the decision was made to use the T3 Scara robot from EPSON.

With a repeat accuracy of approx. 0.02 mm, the high precision requirements were easily met. The versatile industrial robot offers an inexpensive entry-level solution for production lines.

With a payload of 3 kg, 400 mm reach and 0.02 mm repeatability, the compact T3 robot is ideal for simple pick-and-place applications.

The SCARA robot inserts the rings, presses them into the desired shape and then photographs them for quality control. Depending on the result of the test, the SCARA robot places bad rings in a red box and puts good rings over a bar. This automation not only increases efficiency, but also improves quality assurance. The robot performs the ring insertion and quality control with high precision, resulting in consistently high product quality. Overall, automation contributes to an optimised production chain and at the same time reduces dependence on human labour.
